Our Story
We first discovered Piedmont in 2006 and immediately fell in love with this remarkable region – its warm and welcoming people, world-famous wines and outstanding cuisine. Over the following nine years and countless visits, we searched for a place that truly captured everything we loved about Piedmont. Eventually, we found it: Casa Monteverdi.
The more than 250-year-old wine farmhouse was in need of extensive restoration, but it offered everything we had been looking for. Its setting, the sweeping views across the rolling vineyards and its unique atmosphere made it love at first sight. We decided to turn our dream into reality and carefully brought the old cascina back to life, always respecting its history and original character.
For us, Casa Monteverdi is never truly “finished”. Every year we continue to invest in both the house and its surroundings. In the spring of 2026, the exterior was given a beautiful new warm colour that blends naturally into the landscape. We also replaced the entire 10,000-litre water storage system that supplies the garden’s irrigation, ensuring it remains lush and green throughout the warm Italian summers.
Sadly, our small Barbera vineyard was affected by Flavescenza Dorata, a disease that has become a serious challenge for many vineyards in the region. We therefore decided to plant a new vineyard with Nebbiolo vines – an investment that we hope our guests will enjoy for many years to come.
Sustainability also plays an important role in the choices we make. Casa Monteverdi is completely gas-free, exceptionally well insulated and equipped with solar panels, a heat pump, battery storage, EV charging points and an energy-efficient heating and underfloor cooling system. In this way, we combine the authentic character of a historic wine farmhouse with the comfort and sustainability of modern living.
We love sharing not only our home, but also our passion for Piedmont. We are always happy to recommend our favourite restaurants, wineries, local markets and the many hidden gems that make this region so special. We hope your stay at Casa Monteverdi will leave you with the same love for Piedmont that captured our hearts almost twenty years ago.
We live on the first floor of Casa Monteverdi. This allows you to enjoy complete privacy, while knowing that we are always nearby should you have any questions or need recommendations.
